Sometimes one has to simply pick up one foot at a time, and put it in front of the other, and keep moving, even if slowly- so to speak. There are those places where we need, or would like a fresh word from God, or sense from him, or sense of him. I have found special times, even if short to be helpful that way. And we need those get aways from time to time.
But the normal routine does not allow for anything too prolonged. Or at least the routine we’ve chosen, the habits we have acquired and settled into. As well as our occupation with its daily demands on us.
Some things at times can be troubling, and even unsettling. But we can’t live dictated by those things. We have to press on, even through those hard places and times, with all that goes with that, sometimes difficulties in relationships, or hopefully more often in situations.
There is the overall perspective which is needed. Is God truly God to us in and through Jesus? Do we live by faith in God and God’s promises to us in Jesus? Do we see our lives as part of God’s story, and God’s kingdom now present and at work in the world through Jesus? Knowing that we have our place, our part to live out in the Spirit?
We must accept personal responsibility, yet we also need to be open to receiving as well as giving from God through each other in Jesus. In other words we’re in this together, in and through Jesus. We are indeed his body. We are present for each other by the Spirit. This body living and working together in love being a testimony of Christ’s reality to the world.
So I will go on today. Enjoying the good of life, trying to be faithful and do well with what I am committed to. And in all of this, praying that God will help me, indeed help us to live in his calling for us in Jesus in this world.
A prayer I will be praying at times today:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one,
for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.
