prayer for the fifth Sunday

Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Jesus and him crucified

When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

Where is our hope? What is our message? Only this; this alone. Of course what this means, involves and effects is found in the pages of scripture in the story told from Genesis through the Revelation. Jesus and him crucified, now risen and ascended with the promise of return is the centerpiece of the story, the story we’re to live by and tell to others. The story in which we find the true meaning of our own stories, of all of life. Foundational to God’s will in King Jesus for the world.
